Round 4 of the 2019 SA MX National Championship was held at Dirt Bronco in Krugersdorp on Saturday, 6 July.
With temperatures of 2-3 degrees at 7:30am, qualifying was sure to be fresh on an icy, wet track. Anthony was confident and looking forward to getting out there. He shot out and set the fastest lap time for most of the session, however just got clinched out at the end of the session leaving Ant in 2nd place for gate picks.
Heat 1, good jump out the gates but another rider fell over onto Ant going down the start almost causing them both to go down but Ant kept it upright and forced his way through turn one into 5th spot. From then on, it was going to be a hard fight! Ant put his head down and made calculated moves to work his way through the field. Around the half way mark he was in 2nd place behind the leader looking for a way past. Ant saw a gap and in spectacular fashion railed around the outside for the lead! Anthony continued to push and win the heat with a nice margin!
Heat 2, fighting for the hole shot Ant came out of turn one in 3rd place. He battled most of the race and found his into 2nd place. With the track getting extremely demanding and slippery, the racing was very close and lots of passing took place all moto. Ant rode a smart race thinking about the valuable points gained and the extending his championship lead to finish the heat in 3rd place.
Round 4 of the SA Nationals in the bag! Anthony increased his championship points lead in the premier MX2 class, he now leads by 13 points! Round 5 takes us to Pietermaritzburg on 10 August.
